For many children, emotions are like a maze. Being unable to find appropriate ways to express emotions is like being trapped in a maze without an exit.
Having emotions is neither right nor wrong, but whether the displayed behaviors are appropriate may determine how the “outcome” develops.
In September 2017, the Ministry of Health and Welfare released Taiwan’s first survey on child and adolescent mental health. It found that nearly one-third of children have behavioral and emotional problems, and 3% have had suicidal thoughts, sparking discussions in various fields. Dr. Gao Shu-fen, a child psychiatrist at National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital who led the study, pointed out that “this figure tells us that children are not as mentally healthy as we imagine, and significant emotional and psychological problems exist.”
Happiness Village organization is dedicated to sowing the seeds of “emotional education” in children’s hearts during their crucial growth period.
