【Tech News】iST Enters Into Strategic Alliance With Simplay Labs to Offer HDMI 2.0/MHL 3.0/HDCP 2.2 Testing

HSINCHU, Taiwan, June 3, 2014 – iST, a leader in certification services of electronic products, today announced it entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Simplay Labs, the leading provider of standards compliance and interoperability testing services for consumer electronics (CE) and mobile devices, to give its customers access to the full suite of testing capabilities for HDMI® 2.0 (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), MHL® 3.0 (Mobile High-Definition Link), and HDCP 2.2 (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) enabled devices.  Effective immediately, with support from Simplay Labs, iST customers are able to submit their products to iST for standards compliance and interoperability testing.

“Our alliance with iST gives Taiwan customers local access to the latest industry standards testing services, accelerating the process of delivering HDMI, MHL and HDCP standards compliant products into the marketplace,” said Solomon Langley, general manager of Simplay Labs.

HDMI 2.0 Specification
Released in September 2013, the HDMI 2.0 Specification expands audio and video features for consumer electronics applications by offering a significant increase in bandwidth (up to 18 Gbps) to support 4K Ultra HD resolution, 32 audio channels, as well as dynamic auto lip-sync and extensions to CEC.  For more information, visit www.hdmi.org.

MHL 3.0 Specification
Released in August 2013, the MHL 3.0 Specification addresses the latest consumer requirements for connecting a mobile device to displays, featuring major advancement in the areas of audio and video transmission over an MHL link.  Key advancements include 4K Ultra HD resolution, simultaneous high-speed data, 10W power charging, support for simultaneous multiple displays, enhanced audio, and touch screen support.  For more information, visit www.mhlconsortium.org.

HDCP Specification
The HDCP specification provides a robust, cost-effective and transparent method for transmitting and receiving digital entertainment content to compliant digital displays.  HDCP technologies protect high-value digital motion pictures, television programs and audio against unauthorized interception and copying between a digital set top box or digital video recorder and a digital TV or PC.  For more information, visit www.digital-cp.com.
