iST(TWSE:3289), an IC analysis and verification lab of electronic industry, today (August 10, 2023) announced its net revenues on a consolidated basis, revenues for July 2023 were approximately NT$310 million, reflecting a decrease of 7.95% MoM and a slight decrease of 3.64% YoY respectively. The cumulative revenue from January to July reached NT$2.264 billion, with a YoY growth of 7.45%. iST stated that the main reason is the recent requirements of long-term AI-related projects from international giants. These verification and analysis projects have longer timelines and haven’t been completed for revenue recognition yet.
iST further stated that ChatGPT sparked a generative AI trend, injecting vitality into the sluggish consumer market. This surge drove AI servers to become the hottest topic in the global technology industry, leading to a significant increase in demand for AI GPUs. This situation, combined with the ongoing global chip shortage, resulted in another wave of supply shortages, further intensifying the capacity constraints in advanced packaging.
Advanced packaging, often achieved through stacked three-dimensional structures, aims to shrink size and enhance performance. However, the complex layered structure of materials, coupled with factors like heat dissipation and thermal expansion, influences product stability and lifespan. Consequently, this trend has further propelled the demand for verification and analysis in the future.
