iST Q1 2016 Revenue Report

iST (TWSE:3289) today (Apr 18, 2016) announced its self- clearing financial statement of Q1 2016 on a consolidated basis.

  1. Revenues for Q1 2016 totaled NT$ 556 million, an increase of 10.07% QoQ and 12.31% YoY.
  2. Gross profit in Q1 2016 was approximately NT$ 191 million, an increase of 27.18% QoQ and an increase of 11.81% YoY; Gross profit rate of Q1 2016 stabilized to 34.3%.
  3. Profit after tax attributable to the parent company for Q1 was approximately NT$ 81 million, an increase of 19.10% QoQ, and an increase of 71.38% YoY.
  4. While EPS for Q1 was approximately NT$1.60, an increase of 9.59% QoQ, and an increase of 56.86% YoY.

iST said, the revenues in Q1 2016 hit a month record high resulting from two respects. First, despite fewer working days due to Lunar New Year, the revenues still maintained in a stable level; Second, after the Chinese New Year holiday, the blooming projects of semiconductor customers urged the testing demands of Reliability assurance (RA), Material analysis (MA) and Failure analysis (FA) in a high level, driven iST’s revenues in March to a new level at one stroke and broke the NT$200 million per month barrier.

iST indicated, the wireless signal test laboratory for IoT has been established in Q1, and began to make gains. Besides, MA lab has completed the trial run of big customers, and is about to proceed with the official test, expecting to lead the growth of MA.

Review iST performance in Q1 2016, in IoT, iST has launched its over-the-air (OTA) wireless signal testing lab, and has got approval as a CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) Authorized Test Lab; in automotive electronics, together with DEKRA and DEKRA iST, iST has signed strategic cooperative letter of intent with Changchun FAW Automobile Trade Park Development Group Co., Ltd (as ”FAW secondary”) guard a pass upon the quality of FAW’s automotive supplier chain.

The arrangement in Q1 inferring that iST is moving fast from testing to certifying, which will not only bring a new momentum in long term business, but make a positive energy on the near-term outlook.
