Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C., (November 8, 2024) –Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C., (November 8, 2024) – Exciting News from iST’s Signal Integrity Test Lab! iST announced today that following its designation as a USB-IF Power Delivery (PD) Authorized Independent Test Lab (ITL) in April of this year, it has further strengthened its capabilities by obtaining USB-IF authorization for USB4 V1 Electrical Testing, as well as certification testing for USB3.2 and USB2.0 products in October. This authorization enables iST to assist clients with USB-IF-related product certification testing and provide testing that complies with IEC 62680 standards.
iST pointed, by achieving the USB4 V1 Electrical Testing qualification, iST can offer clients enhanced technical support, ensuring that their products successfully meet international standards and satisfy market demands.
Tony Wang, Director of iST’s Signal Integrity Business Unit notes that with the EU mandating that 13 types of radio products adopt the Type-C connector for unified charging standards, USB-IF has launched related testing programs to help OEMs and ODMs navigate the IEC 62680 standard for testing and certification. As a USB-IF authorized ITL, iST can expedite USB Type-C product testing for manufacturers and provide certification to comply with EU regulatory requirements.
Regarding compliance issues, it is crucial to note that products using Type-C connectors must possess a TID (Test ID) to apply for USB-IF certification; products without a TID cannot submit applications. Furthermore, if a product has already passed the USB-IF compliance testing, there is no need for additional IEC 62680 standard testing, as the compliance test covers the necessary requirements. However, products that pass the USB-IF IEC 62680 tests do not automatically qualify to use the USB-IF logo; only products that have passed the USB-IF compliance testing program are permitted to display that logo, Tony Wang pointed.
For products that achieved USB-IF compliance testing years ago, simply providing testing information along with the TID can generate a testing results document in accordance with IEC 62680 standards, ensuring continued compliance.
Table 1: Frequently Asked Questions on USB-IF Compliance
Question | Answer |
---|---|
1. Does the Type-C connector need a TID to apply for USB-IF certification? | Yes, the Type-C connector must have a TID; otherwise, the application cannot proceed. |
2. Do products that have already passed USB-IF compliance testing need to undergo IEC 62680 standard testing? | No, because the USB-IF compliance testing encompasses the IEC 62680 requirements. |
3. Can products that passed the IEC 62680 tests use the USB-IF logo? | No, because the USB-IF compliance testing encompasses the IEC 62680 requirements. |
4. How can products that passed USB-IF compliance testing years ago maintain compliance? | They simply need to provide testing information and TID to generate testing results documents per IEC 62680 standards. |
