Hsinchu, Taiwan – November 10, 2025 – Integrated Service Technology Inc. (iST, TWSE:3289), a leading provider of electronic product verification services, today officially announced its sub-2 nm ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) novel material selection and validation service, extending its capability to include chemical material selection, process evaluation, and quality confirmation. This new service makes iST not only a chip verification partner but also a key accelerator for material suppliers’ development efforts.
The major foundries are adopting advanced 3D structure in their next generation devices and have commenced mass production on the 2 nm and 18 Å nodes in the second half of this year. This has driven an apparent increase in demand for ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) equipment and the selection of novel materials. One of the key challenges in this evolution lies in achieving uniform film coverage across complex 3D structures. Regular CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) and PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) will face limitations. For example, PVD such as evaporation or sputtering often fail to reach deep internal regions, while CVD’s fast gas-phase reactions can cause film thickness nonuniformity.
In comparison, ALD’s atom layer–by–layer deposition enables precise control over film thickness and produces films with good uniformity and conformality, making it an indispensable technology for sub-2 nm process. However, ALD is characterized by a slow deposition rate, complex parameter control, and stringent reaction condition requirements for novel materials, which together present significant technical challenges. iST’s ALD novel material validation platform allows material developers to conduct deposition experiments during the R&D phase, rapidly evaluate film quality and uniformity, and thereby speed up their development cycles.
Currently, ALD is widely applied in semiconductor manufacturing for the production of high-k dielectric films and advanced transistor architectures such as GAA (Gate-All-Around) and CFET (Complementary FET). Additionally, using ALD to form a protective coating on test samples for TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) analysis to prevent damage has been a standard practice. However, iST’s ALD capability extends far beyond these conventional applications. By integrating the complete workflow — from material selection → deposition process → film characterization → process validation — iST supports chemical material suppliers, chip manufacturers, and equipment providers in verifying and optimizing novel materials, delivering a comprehensive “materials-to-chips” analytical and validation solution across the semiconductor supply chain.
iST emphasizes that breakthroughs in future semiconductor technologies will come from not only process scaling but also the integration of novel materials. Through its ALD novel material validation platform, iST aims to help material and equipment suppliers accelerate the definition of next-generation standards, positioning itself as a driving force behind the sub-2nm era.
As the semiconductor industry enters the novel materials era, iST will expand its dual-track growth strategy of “chip verification + novel material validation”, delivering differentiated solutions for customers while establishing a new growth engine for its future operations.
