Taiwan-based Integrated Service Technology (iST), dedicated to providing semiconductor materials analysis and IC debugging services, has lately signed a cooperation memorandum with German-based Dekra Testing and Certification to jointly test and certify Wi-Fi systems for IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
The move came in the wake of iST inking a cooperation agreement in February with the US-based Underwriters Laboratories (UL) on developing high-speed wired signal transmission technology.
This is an extension of a cooperation by iST and Dekra to carry out reliability assurance (RA) and automotive electronics certification services for Asia customers starting in 2015.
Under the new pact, both sides will move to jointly offer IoT wireless Wi-Fi certification, customization and related logo application services to Asia clients. Dekra has recently been authorized by Wi-FI Alliance to set up an independent Wi-Fi test laboratory in Shenzhen, China to carry out the services.
Industry sources said that upstream, midstream and downstream businesses associated with mobile consumer devices can apply to iST or Dekra to conduct early-stage tests, compatibility tests, customization tests and debugging services, as well as Wi-Fi certification logo applications, so as to secure comprehensive solutions for the entire IoT supply chains.
Aided by commercial runs of its new plants, iST saw its revenues for the fourth quarter of 2017 soar 14.11% sequentially to NT$803 million (US$28.42 million), with EPS shooting up 57.69% on quarter to NT$0.82. The firm’s revenues for the first two months of 2018 rose 33.41% on year to NT$476.05 million.
